Research Scientist to Selected to Present His Work in New Orleans
Léon Kautz to Present at Plenary Scientific Session of the American Society of Hematology Meetings
Léon Kautz, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Iron Disorders and an American Society of Hematology Scholar, was selected to present his work at the Plenary Scientific Session of the American Society of Hematology Meetings in New Orleans, Sunday, December 8, 2013, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (Hall F).
The study describes the discovery and characterization of erythroferrone, the erythroid regulator of iron homeostasis (see abstract). The top six scientific abstracts out of several thousand were selected for this prestigious honor.
The event will be attended by most of the 20,000 physicians and scientists who participate in this meeting. Dr. Kautz also will also receive The Joanne Levy, MD, Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement, given to the current ASH Scholar with the highest scoring abstract for the ASH annual meeting as determined by the abstract review process.
